ABSTRACT
The right to education is a fundamental human right essential for the empowerment and development of societies. In Nigeria, despite numerous legal frameworks and policies, girls continue to face significant challenges in accessing quality education. This paper explores the barriers that prevent Nigerian girls from exercising their right to education, including cultural, economic, legal, and infrastructural obstacles. It also highlights the progress made through government policies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and international support. Finally, the paper offers policy recommendations aimed at overcoming these barriers and ensuring that every girl in Nigeria has equal access to quality education. By addressing these challenges through targeted interventions, Nigeria can unlock the potential of millions of girls, contributing to national growth and gender equality.
